I went to our local beach the other day with my mummy and daddy. It was warm with a slight breeze and you could smell the seaweed. While we were there, the sea started to come in. I noticed that jellyfish were appearing from the water and getting stuck on the sand. I have seen this before and have done research on jellyfish (one day I’d love to be a marine biologist). I know that jellyfish are important to the sea’s ecosystem because they can go down very deep and bring up nutrients to the other layers of the ocean. I’ve also learned that they can survive for up to 45 minutes out of the water so, if they are stranded, you can use a spade to put them back into the ocean. Luckily, on this day I had taken a bucket and spade with me, so with the help of my mummy and daddy I was able to put the 24 jellyfish back in the sea. This made me feel really happy as I was able to help save the jellyfish and help give back to nature. Out of the 24 jellyfish, 20 of them were moon jellyfish. I could tell what they were by the four purple circles they have in their bell. They are my favourite jellyfish. The other four were compass jellyfish, which have a deep brown circle on their bell. I like jellyfish as they are important to the ocean. More people should know how important they are and that they can be saved.
