Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas urged the United Nations to suspend Israel as a member state, condemning what he described as the “mass genocide” committed against Palestinians. Speaking at a joint Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh, he criticized the international community’s inaction in addressing Israel"s actions and called for the immediate implementation of UN Resolution 2735, which demands an end to Israeli violence and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians. Abbas also called for stringent sanctions against Israel for its failure to comply with international laws and conventions. He emphasized the need to protect Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque and other sacred sites, advocating for strong international support for an independent Palestinian state. The Palestinian leader also called for unrestricted access for the UN agency aiding Palestinians, UNRWA, to carry out its mission. He concluded by expressing gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s efforts and praised the steadfast support from Arab and Islamic nations for the Palestinian cause.
