روافد ـ الأحساء أجرى الدكتور خالد بن عبدالله العبدالقادر الرئيس التنفيذي للمركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر زيارة إلى المنطقة الشرقية، شارك خلالها في الدورة السابعة من منتدى الأحساء، المنعقد تحت عنوان “اقتصاد مستدام”، بمشاركة نخبة من الخبراء وصنّاع القرار؛ لمناقشة أبرز الفرص الاستثمارية، واستراتيجيات التنمية المستدامة في المحافظة. وخلال مشاركته متحدثًا في إحدى جلسات المنتدى، استعرض العبدالقادر أبرز جهود وتوجهات المركز نحو تنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر في الأحساء، ومساهمة تلك الجهود في تحقيق الاستدامة البيئية في المنطقة. وأشار إلى أن المركز يُشرف على أكثر من 52% من مساحة محافظة الأحساء، وهي الأراضي الخاصة بالغطاء النباتي خارج النطاق العمراني، أو يتعاون مع باقي الجهات المسؤولة في المساحات داخل النطاق العمراني، أو تلك التي تتقاطع مع المناطق المحمية، لافتًا إلى أنه تم توقيع عدة اتفاقيات للتعاون في تنمية وتطوير المنطقة. وأوضح أن المركز طرح كذلك عددًا من مشاريع التشجير في محافظة الأحساء، وذلك ضمن جهوده لتعزيز وتنمية الغطاء النباتي، ومن المتوقع اكتمال تلك المشاريع بحلول عام 2026م، كما تم حصر عدد من المتنزهات الوطنية في المحافظة، وجاري العمل على تطويرها وحمايتها وصيانتها وتأهيلها، مؤكدًا أن المركز يعمل أيضًا على حماية غضا أبو الفرائس، ونثر البذور في الربع الخالي وغيرها من المواقع؛ لاستعادة المراعي الطبيعية، وتحقيق مستهدفات تنمية الغطاء النباتي. وعلى هامش المنتدى، وقع الرئيس التنفيذي للمركز مذكرة تفاهم مع هيئة تطوير الأحساء؛ بهدف تعزيز سياحة الوجهات الطبيعية بالمحافظة، والعمل بشكل تكاملي؛ لتفعيل الإجراءات والتدابير اللازمة للحفاظ على النظام البيئي والغطاء النباتي الطبيعي، ودعم جهود التشجير، وتنمية المساحات الخضراء ودعم استدامة المراعي الطبيعية والمتنزهات الوطنية. يُذكر أن المركز يعمل على تنمية مواقع الغطاء النباتي وحمايتها والرقابة عليها وتأهيل المتدهور منها حول المملكة، والكشف عن التعديات عليه، ومكافحة الاحتطاب، إضافة إلى الإشراف على أراضي المراعي والغابات والمتنزهات الوطنية واستثمارها، ما يعزز التنمية المستدامة، ويسهم في تحقيق مستهدفات مبادرة السعودية الخضراء.       ==         NCVC CEO Highlights Vegetation Cover Development Efforts and Signs MoU with Al Ahsa Development Authority During Al Ahsa Forum     Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Abdulkader, CEO of the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC), visited the Eastern Region to participate in the seventh edition of the Al Ahsa Forum, held under the theme “Sustainable Economy”. The forum gathered distinguished experts and decision-makers to explore key investment opportunities and sustainable development strategies in the province. During his speech at one of the forum sessions, Dr. Al-Abdulkader outlined NCVC’s key initiatives and strategic approaches aimed at developing vegetation cover and combating desertification in Al Ahsa. He emphasized the significant contribution of these efforts to achieving environmental sustainability in the region. Dr. Al-Abdulkader highlighted that NCVC oversees more than 52% of Al Ahsa’s total area, specifically the vegetation cover zones located outside the urban boundaries. He also mentioned that the NCVC works closely with relevant entities to manage areas within urban zones and those intersecting with protected areas. Several agreements have been signed to promote cooperation in the development and enhancement of the region. He also shared that NCVC has launched several greening projects in Al Ahsa as part of its broader efforts to enhance vegetation cover. These projects are expected to be completed by 2026. In addition, a number of national parks in the province have been identified, with ongoing efforts dedicated to their development, protection, maintenance, and rehabilitation. NCVC is also focusing on the protection of Ghada Abu Al-Farais, along with seed dispersal initiatives in the Empty Quarter and other areas to restore natural rangelands and achieve vegetation cover development targets. On the sidelines of the forum, the CEO of NCVC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Al Ahsa Development Authority aimed at promoting natural destinations in the province. The agreement seeks to foster integrated efforts to implement necessary measures for preserving the ecosystem and natural vegetation cover, supporting greening initiatives, expanding green spaces, and ensuring the sustainability of natural rangelands and national parks.   NCVC continues its nationwide mission to develop, protect, and monitor vegetation sites, rehabilitate degraded areas, detect violations related to vegetation cover, and combat illegal logging. The NCVC also oversees the management of rangelands, forests, and national parks, ensuring their sustainable utilization. These efforts align with the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative, contributing to sustainable development and improving the overall quality of life in Saudi Arabia.
