9 August 2016 -- WHO strongly condemns the attack at Quetta Civil Hospital, Pakistan on 8 August. At least 71 people were killed, including one doctor, and 112 people injured. WHO extends its sincere condolences to the families and colleagues of those who were killed and injured in this attack. Doctors, patients and civilians in health care settings should never be at risk of death or injury as a result of violence. WHO reiterates its support to the Government of Pakistan, and is working with health authorities to ensure the injured are treated and medical services remain uninterrupted. Violence indirectly interrupting the delivery of health care deprives people of urgently needed essential, life-saving services. The neutrality of health must be respected at all times.
