20 November 2016 – The World Health Organization (WHO) strongly denounces a claim made in a recently published article on a website called "Aswat Hurrah" (Free voices) that WHO has declared a stance on so called illegitimate marriages taking place during religious ceremonies in southern Iraq. WHO not only condemns the use of the Organization’s name in such an unethical report, which is totally contradictory to its principles, but is currently investigating the source of this false news and will consider suing those who published it. WHO calls on media outlets to refrain from publishing such untruthful news and to verify their sources.
