Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmad Al-Jubeir stressed on Sunday that the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council holding its first session successfully is considered an important and historic step to enhance relations between the Kingdom and Iraq in various fields. The body’s establishment was co-signed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, and in the presence of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Jubeir added that the US Secretary of State met with King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during which they discussed a number of important issues pertaining to the Middle Easts peace process in addition to Syria, Yemen, as well as Iranian threat to the region. Jubeir’s speech was delivered at a press conference held with US counterpart Tillerson at King Salman Airbase in Riyadh on Sunday. The Saudi top diplomat added that they discussed the Qatari crisis in addition to terrorism and extremism in Syria, Iraq and the Middle East, stressing the Saudi-US identical views towards most issues without going into details with regard to the two countries stances because they are very clear. He pointed out that they also discussed the situation in North Korea, confirming that the Kingdoms stance is completely identical with the G-20 stance which calls to an area with no nuclear weapons on the Korean peninsula. "We have expressed our stance that any action or provocative moves taken by North Korea could not be used in reaching a solution of this crisis," the Saudi state-owned news agency cited Jubeir as saying. Jubeir hailed the historic and strategic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States in addition to the two countries keenness to enhance and solidify ties in all fields.
