A group of automakers plans to build a High-Power Charging (HPC) network for electric vehicles across Europe by the end of this year. The companies which are taking part in this project are BMW, Daimler, Ford, and the Volkswagen. The four have announced Friday the goal of launching 20 stations out of 400 before the end of 2017 along major routes in Germany, Norway, and Austria. Data shows plans to increase the total number to more than 100 in 2018, and by 2020, the group seeks to have 400 HPC stations in operation. Expanding the network of charging stations is a core demand to attract more consumers to buy electric vehicles, according to DPA. The four automakers have come together to form IONITY in Munich, with each company owning an equal share.
