The Saudi-led Arab Coalition announced on Saturday foiling an attack targeting international shipping lines. The Arab Coalitions spokesman, Colonel Turki bin Saleh al-Maliki, said on Saturday that the coalition thwarted an imminent action to target international shipping routes. "Houthi elements on the Yemeni island of Bawadi were attacked, as they planned violent operations targeting international shipping routes and international trade," the spokesman said. He clarified that “The impending attack included planning to use the small bomb-trapped boats and a group of divers to plant naval mines in the ships.” On that note, Yemen’s Vice President Ali Mohsen Saleh expressed appreciation to Arab coalition countries for supporting the internationally-backed Yemeni government, notably the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the countries that supported the will of all Yemenis. Saleh’s remarks were made while addressing an expanded military meeting bringing together heads of bodies and directors of Yemen’s defense ministry. He reaffirmed the Iran-backed Houthi militias leading a coup against the state and legitimacy is what caused the suffering and destruction of all the people of Yemen. Coup militias supported by Iran are a real regional threat as they keep posing threat to international peace and security, jeopardizing international navigation and carry out repeated attacks on civilians, in Yemen and the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he said. He added that the latest was the bombing of Taiz and the launching of a ballistic missile targeting Riyadh.
