The Rockefeller Center in New York is considered a dining and shopping paradise all across the year, but in the winter it becomes more exciting thanks to its astonishing ice skating rink. The rink was opened at moderate temperatures of about 24 degrees Celsius this year, but it will certainly be reduced when the festive season gets closer. It was officially opened by the two US Olympic skating champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White. The rink, which appeared in many films, was first created at Christmas in 1936. It is a popular marriage proposal site. Millions of visitors are expected to flock through the winter months. The rink will remain open until April, the German news agency (DPA) reported. The ice skating rink is easily recognizable with the statue of the Prometheus, the iconic Greek symbol, which stands next to it.
