Lebanon’s resigned Prime Minister Saad Hariri was in Paris on Saturday for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, a statement from Hariris press office said. Hariri will meet Macron at noon at the Elysee Palace and then attend a lunch in his honor with his wife and eldest son, the statement said. Hariri told Lebanese President Michel Aoun in a phone call from Paris that he would be in Lebanon on Wednesday for Independence Day celebrations, Aoun said on Twitter. On the eve of his trip to Paris, Hariri said he has been in Saudi Arabia for discussions "on the future of the situation in Lebanon and its relations with the surrounding Arab region.” Member of the Future Movement parliamentary bloc MP Oqab Saqr said on Friday that after his meeting with Macron, Hariri would kick off “a small Arab tour” before his return to Beirut. Hariri announced his resignation on November 4, accusing Iran and its powerful Lebanese ally “Hezbollah” of destabilizing his country and the region.
