Heavy rain in the western province of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday led to the suspension of school classes and flights delays. The heavy rain affected Jeddah, Mecca and Medina and other regions. Marine navigation at Jeddah port was also suspended. The heavy rain, high winds and low visibility resulted in the suspension of classes in many provinces at the recommendation of the General Directorate of Civil Defense and Presidency of Meteorology and Environment. The poor weather is expected to continue for the coming hours. The Civil Defense warned that thunderstorms will affect the majority of Saudi Arabian regions. The Center for Crisis and Disaster Management in the Mecca province warned locals against heading to valleys and flood-prone areas due to the heavy rains. In a series of tweets, it said that the majority of roads in the area have become inaccessible due to the high water levels. It said that the rain has also affected Jeddah and the city of Mecca. Presidency of Meteorology and Environment warned that the Kingdom could expect moderate thunderstorms accompanied with dust-carrying winds in the Medina and Mecca regions. The regions of Hail, al-Qassim, Rafha, Hafar Al-Batin, al-Dawadmi and northern parts of the eastern province will also be affected.
