Saudi Arabia Reiterates Condemnation of Iran’s Terrorist Acts, Regional Meddling

The Saudi cabinet underlined on Tuesday the statement of the extraordinary Arab League meeting that condemned Iran’s interference in Arab internal affairs. The cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, reiterated Riyadh’s condemnation of Tehran’s terrorist acts that fuel sectarian strife. The Arab League foreign ministers met in Cairo on Sunday at Riyadh’s invitation to address Iran’s mounting threats in the region. The Saudi cabinet stressed the need to prevent Iran from backing groups that stoke regional conflicts, especially in the Arab Gulf, Information Minister Dr. Awad bin Saleh al-Awad told the Saudi Press Agency. The cabinet, which met at the Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, demanded an end to the funding and support of militias and armed groups in these Arab countries. King Salman then briefed the gatherers of his talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and the message he received earlier on Tuesday from Algerian President Abdulaziz Bouteflika. He also briefed them of the meeting he held with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and their discussion of regional and international developments and efforts to achieve peace and security in the world. The cabinet also address Saudi Arabia’s assertion to the United Nations of its firm stance on the Palestinian conflict, which is the primary cause of the Arab and Muslim people. Awad said that the Kingdom will vote in favor of the permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people over their Palestinian territory, including Eastern Jerusalem. It will over vote in favor of the Arab residents of the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights and their right to benefit from its natural resources.
