Clashes erupted on Wednesday between supporters of deposed President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Houthi insurgents. The fighting broke out near the Saleh mosque in southern Sana’a. Informed sources revealed that the clash started when guards at the mosque prevented Houthis from setting up surveillance cameras on the mosque’s minarets. The insurgents wanted to use the cameras to monitor the nearby al-Sabeen square. One Houthi was killed and a Saleh supporter was wounded in the unrest, said security sources close to the deposed president. Meanwhile, republican guards loyal to Saleh blocked all roads leading to the al-Seyasy neighborhood in western central Sana’a. Clashes soon ensued between the loyalists and Houthi militants, who were seeking to storm the residence of Colonel Tarek Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, the deposed president’s nephew.
