A Court in Egypt sentenced on Thursday 13 convicts to execution, 17 to life sentence, two defendants to 15 years in jail, seven defendants to five years and five defendants were acquitted in the case known in the media as “Ajnad Misr organization.” Egypts Giza Criminal Court stressed that the defendants were charged with launching terrorist attacks against security forces, through installing explosive devices, targeting various venues including checkpoints, police stations, vital institutions and public properties as well as murdering policemen and citizens. A security source said that “the organization has carried out since its emergence, in January 2014 and in 2015, about 47 terrorist operations.” The Court of Appeal in Egypt, set July to carry out the first hearing session of the defendants, who caused the deaths of three officers and three policemen and were planning to kill more than 100 officers, target police installations, and security ambushes. The defendants are accused of joining a group that was established in violation of the provisions of the law, possessing firearms and ammunition, killing and attempting to kill, intimidating security guards, threatening the security and public peace, planning to overthrow the regime, targeting military, police and judiciary personnel, acquiring leaflets for the Takfiri groups. The Egyptian Criminal Court of Cessation issued a decision to classify Ajnad Misr as a terrorist organization in May 2014. The US State Department also added the organization to its terror list in December of the same year.
