Saudi Arabia Organizes First International Exhibition on IoT

The 2018 edition of the Saudi International Exhibition for Internet of Things (IoT) will be held at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center from January 28 till 30. Saudi Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Eng. Khalid al-Falih said that the Conference and Exhibition of IoT is one of the most important events to establish a platform that supports all sectors concerned with the internet of things in Saudi Arabia. He expressed his interest in the participation of the Ministry of Energy in this event after reviewing the preparations to organize it. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah al-Swaha said that one of the ministry’s goals is to transform the Kingdom into a window for Internet applications in the region to be in line with the Kingdoms approach towards achieving its 2030 development vision, applying the digital transformation program 2020 and using appropriate mechanisms to diversify investments, thereby harnessing the best way to transfer global knowledge and expertise to the local market, which is rich in great opportunities for IoT applications. He called for investment in the field of IoT, which is still a promising developing market. The launch of the event is one of the first experiences in the Saudi market to be a platform that brings together the various sectors in the fields of technology, communications, health, transportation, oil, gas, petrochemicals and services designed to push towards the digital transformation of cities, communities, people and data. It also comes as a response to the current impact of the global economy on IoT technology, which has caused a new revolution in the world of Internet and its applications. More than 30 speakers, including experts, academics, researchers and heads of local and international companies in the technology sector will present their latest achievements and developments in the world of technology and the Internet. The participants will present their achievements in technology solutions and their efforts in implementing the Digital Transformation program 2020 in addition to the participation of the national and international private sector in presenting its technical achievements. Three parallel sessions, featuring IoT workshops run by sponsors and exhibitors, are planned, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with key IoT players and innovators from Saudi Arabia and around the globe. Other features include a smart area designated for product launches, relaunches, announcements and demonstrations.
