Search and rescue teams in the Saudi city of Medina have saved a German passenger on board a ship sailing in the Red Sea after she suffered from internal bleeding. A spokesman for the Saudi Border Guards said that the German woman also faced difficulty walking and shortness of breath. He said: “As part of the humanitarian role played by the Border Guards’ search and rescue teams, a naval patrol managed on Tuesday to evacuate a passenger traveling on board an Italian ship in the Red Sea and which was sailing from Colombia.” The call for assistance was originally made to the search and rescue team in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba in Jeddah. The teams immediately dispatched a rescue mission and evacuated the woman, 66, from the vessel, which was 74 nautical miles away from the Yanbu port. The Border Guards spokesman said: “The patient was evacuated with her husband after necessary humanitarian and medical aid was administered to her.” They were transferred to Yanbu port and then to Yanbu General Hospital.
