The Arab coalition has handed over 27 children arrested during battles with Houthi militias to the representative of the legitimate government of Yemen. An official source from the Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen said Thursday the children had been arrested during military confrontations with the insurgents on a number of battlefronts near the Saudi border. The source pointed out that the Iran-backed Houthis are forcing Yemeni children and youths to head to the battlefronts and using them in failed operations. The handover took place at Sharourah Force Command in the presence of a number of Coalition representatives, and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Saudi Red Crescent Authority, Child Protection Unit in Armed Conflict, the legitimate government and Saudi Human Rights Commission. Following intense coordination with several international organizations, Saudi Arabia in June 2016 handed over to the legitimate Yemeni government 52 children who had been recruited by Houthis.
