‘Roads of Arabia’ expo opens in Tokyo

JEDDAH: The exhibition “Roads of Arabia: Archaeological treasures of Saudi Arabia through the ages” opened in Tokyo on Monday.On behalf of Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH), Saudi Ambassador to Japan Ahmed bin Younes Al-Barrak opened the event at the Tokyo National Museum. The Tokyo museum is the third Asian stop of the Roads of Arabia Exhibition and the 13th stop at the international level.The event aims at informing the world about the civilization and history of the Arabian Peninsula and Saudi Arabia through its archaeological treasures that embody its deep cultural dimension. Moreover, this exhibition aims at strengthening the cultural communication among the peoples of the world.The exhibit includes 466 rare archaeological pieces that showcase the civilizational dimension of Saudi Arabia and its cultural legacy. The exhibition includes the Paleolithic age to the period of antiquity, the civilizations of Arab kingdoms, through the Islamic period until the emergence of the Saudi state with its three phases, to the era of King Abdul Aziz, founder of the modern Saudi state.
