Achieving knowledge exchange and localizing Saudi capabilities, the national cyber security body, the Saudi Federation for Cyber Security and Programming (SFCSP), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft and another with Cisco Systems. According to the first MoU, Microsoft will provide knowledge and logistics support to the SFCSP and related activities to local developers and innovators. The memorandum consists of seven main provisions which stipulate that Microsoft will participate in activities, conferences and competitions with the SFCSP and that it will provide training equipment and curricula for participating members, access to educational resources, and tools, programs and licenses for some of the companys products. According to the same memo, Microsoft will work to provide a laboratory and training environment for the SFCSP servicemen, while also supporting local IT professionals, developers and innovators, but also attracting and refining local talent. The MoU signed with Cisco also states that the company will be actively involved in SFCSP activities of the federation, including conferences, workshops and competitions. Cisco’s participation can be through invited speakers, guests of honor or trainers. Under the MoU, Cisco will also provide training materials and curricula related to cybersecurity and programming through the Cisco academy. Cisco will also grant access to educational resources and training materials on the Internet, tools, software and licenses for some of the companys products for academic and training purposes, in addition to its contribution to research and development through sharing cybersecurity and programming expertise and knowledge. The Federations Vice President Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf al-Ghamdi illustrated that the two memoranda include several essential items that will benefit the members of the federation from clubs and individuals in the future. It is worth mentioning that the two memoranda are the first activities carried out by the board of directors of the Saudi federation for cybersecurity and programming chaired by Saud Al-Qahtani, Adviser at the Royal Court.
