The United States and Argentina announced on Sunday that they will cooperate closely to halt “Hezbollah’s” financial networks in South America. The announcement was made during US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s trip to Buenos Aires where he met with his Argentine counterpart Jorge Faurie. "We did specifically discuss the presence of Lebanese ‘Hezbollah’ in this hemisphere, which is raising funds obviously, to support its terrorist activities," Tillerson said during a joint press conference with the minister. "So its something that we jointly agree we need to attack and eliminate." For his part, Faurie said that South America is now a “region of peace” and foreign groups should not expose it to dangers. “As Tillerson said, we should intensify all exchanges as much as possible, not just through dialogue, but also in gathering information on the activities of these groups that are using cross-border crimes to sponsor their interests,” he stressed.
