Yemen’s National Army Forces, with air support from Arab Coalition fighters, made remarkable advances south of Hodeidah in the last two days. Field sources also cited the continued march towards the center of Al-Jarahi Directorate, north of Hays. Yemen’s army forces aided by the Arab coalition announced last week liberating all of Hays District, which has a strategic position as it links the three governorates Hodeidah, Ibb and Taiz. Liberating Hays marks a significant progress as it paves the way to liberating the rest of districts in Hodeidah, securing navigation in the Red Sea and cutting Iran’s supplies to Houthis, according to military experts. Meanwhile, fierce battles are taking place between pro-government National Army forces and Iran-backed Houthi militia in the outskirts Al-Jarahi, where the National Army imposed a three-pronged siege on the directorate. At the same time, coalition fighters bombed Houthi sites, gatherings and reinforcements in scattered Al-Jarahi farms, and in the neighboring Zabid district, resulting in dozens of Houthi militiamen deaths and injuries-- among those killed is insurgency leader Younis Ibrahim Amer. In the meantime, the Houthi militia pushed heavily into Hodeidah, following a major collapse among its ranks. On that note, Al-Arabiya channel quoted a Saudi correspondent on Sunday saying that an attack by the Houthis just off Najran was an attempt to infiltrate Saudi borders in order to boost Houthi morals after them suffering sweeping defeats on Yemeni battlegrounds. In the past two weeks, the Yemeni National Armys demining and explosives defusing teams have removed large quantities of mines and improvised explosive devices in Sa’ada. The team, in cooperation with Arab Coalition experts, has so far removed more than 4000 mines and explosive devices, according to the Yemeni army official website.
