Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr called on Tuesday the international community to confront Iran’s political, economic and military ambitions in his country. He stressed that it is in the interest of regional and international powers to preserve a united Yemen. He made his remarks while meeting in Riyadh with US Charge dAffaires in Yemen Karen Sasahara. The meeting is part of a series of talks the legitimacy leadership is holding with the ambassadors of countries concerned with the developments in Yemen. Bin Daghr had departed the Yemeni city of Aden to Riyadh, at the request of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, where he can tackle the political, economic and security affairs of Yemen. Yemen’s SABA news agency said that Bin Daghr and Sasahara stressed the importance of restoring security and stability in Yemen and rebuilding the liberated areas in the upcoming phase. The premier said that the legitimacy forces in Yemen are working with all regional and international partners to that end. Furthermore, he condemned Iran’s meddling in his country, saying that it has defied the international community through its speeches of incitement and the armament of the Houthi militias. He demanded that the international community thwart Iran’s military, economic and geographic ambitions in Yemen. For her part, Sasahara relayed to the Yemeni PM her country’s keenness on backing a united stable Yemen and finding appropriate solutions that are accepted by the people. She expressed Washington’s readiness to present logistic and financial support to officials to revive operations at Yemen’s Central Bank, which has been relocated to Aden.
