The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Monday the renewed wave of suicide bombings and violent attacks in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, as well as Helmand and Farah provinces, resulting in civilian casualties and material damages. "There can be no justification for any violent action and killing under the pretext of Holy Quran and Islam, and those who perpetrate suicide attacks against civilians do not represent Islam as a religion,” said OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yousef al-Othaimeen. “The decision taken by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC and endorsed by the Islamic Summit of Kings and Heads of States and Governments calls on OIC member States and the international community to support the inclusive peace and reconciliation process led and sponsored by Afghanistan to reach a political solution based on the principles of renouncing violence, cutting ties with all terrorist groups, preserving Afghanistans democratic achievements and respecting the Afghan Constitution to build a peaceful, stable and democratic country.” He urged all member states and their institutions "to spare no effort in helping the Afghan National Unity Government at this crucial time.” Othaimeen also highlighted Council of Foreign Ministers’ resolution "urging all OIC member states and the international community to encourage all Muslim scholars to unanimously and strongly condemn terrorism, through fatwas, preaching and holding international events”.
