RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir welcomed his Costa Rican counterpart Manuel Gonzalez Sanz and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday. Al-Jubair noted that this was a historical visit, during which the ministers discussed bilateral relations. “The relations between the two countries in all fields have promising opportunities,” he said. He also expressed the Kingdom’s appreciation of Costa Rica’s positions on the issues of the region. Sanz said: “It is an honor for me to visit Saudi Arabia, a historic visit for the first time. We are pleased to have the opportunity to invest in agriculture, tourism and mutual investment. In my meeting with the minister, we discussed cooperation and what Costa Rica can offer in tourism opportunities,” he said. He added: “I would also like to refer to the visit of Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment Majid Al-Qasabi to Costa Rica. This was a message for the establishment of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, agriculture, trade, tourism and investment, and there are many things in common between the two countries.” Sanz said owning land in Costa Rica was a straightforward proposition. “We are an open economy and investors can own land without any local partner and without any restrictions,” he said. At the press conference about the meeting, Al-Jubair also confirmed that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had received an invitation from president Trump to visit the US. “He accepted the invitation and we are now working with the American side to determine the details,” he said.
