Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, concluded on Tuesday a three-day official visit to Egypt. He departed Cairo for Britain, sending a cable of farewell to President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi. He said: “The talks we held demonstrated that the strength of our ties and desire to deepen cooperation in all fields in line with the vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.” The talks, he said, are aimed at achieving the interests of the Saudi and Egyptian people and bolstering security and stability in the region. On the last day of his visit, Prince Mohammed held talks with Prime Minister Sharif Ismail on bilateral ties and the latest developments in the Middle East. He later met with parliament Speaker Ali Abdulaal. Later that day, the Crown Prince and Sisi inaugurated the renovation of the al-Azhar mosque. The renovation took three years and is considered one of the largest development projects undertaken at the facility. Saudi Arabia had in 2014 issued a royal decree to renovate the mosque.
