As long as the army and the police exist, no one will dare to harm Egyptians, “We either live together or we die together,” said President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi who pledged to continue the fight against terrorists. His statement was made during the 27th culture seminar of the Egyptian Armed Forces held at El Manara International Convention Center (MICC) in New Cairo on Thursday, in the attendance of Armed Forces officials and soldiers. Sisi praised the roles of the officers and soldiers, and condoled their families saying “the price paid by each martyr and injured individual in the army and police is maintaining Egypts strength and stability.” He added, “I am ready to wear the military uniform and fight with the Armed Forces for the sake of the nation.” The army continues in its huge military battle in Sinai to eradicate active extremists in the north and center of border Sinai. Sisi assigned, end of November, the army and police to use the full power in order to uproot terrorism. Since years, north Sinai border became a terrorist center, where extremist groups spread, such as Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis that pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2014. Sisi also signed on Thursday a law to establish a fund to honor martyrs, victims, missing individuals, and those injured in war, terrorist and security operations in addition to their household – the law was already endorsed by the parliament. Sources said that the fund, in coordination with relevant parties, is entrusted with providing opportunities of studying and working in addition to getting adequate health services and subscriptions to youths and sports activities centers, as well as offering chances to perform the duty of Hajj, not to mention renaming streets, squares and schools to honor martyrs.
