Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, held talks in Washington on Wednesday with US Senior Advisor and Envoy on the Middle East Jared Kushner and Assistant to the President and Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt. They discussed issues of common interests between Saudi Arabia and the US and ways of consolidating them. They also tackled the latest peace process developments in the Middle East and the need to find a peaceful and lasting solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The meeting was attended by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Ambassador to the US, Minister of the State and Member of the Council of Ministers Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir. Prince Mohammed had arrived in the US on Tuesday as part of an 18-day trip. The second day of his talks also saw him meet US Senators Dan Sullivan, Tom Cotton, Joe Manchin and Lindsay Graham. They discussed bilateral ties and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. They also discussed joint efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, as well as to confront Iran‘s meddling in the Middle East. Prince Mohammed had held talks on Tuesday with President Donald Trump at the White House. He later met with Speaker of the US House of Representatives Paul Ryan, US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. He also met with US House of Representatives Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the US Senate Majority Deputy Leader, heads of the foreign relations and home security committees of the US Senate, the heads of the foreign affairs, home security and intelligence committees of the US House of Representatives and senior Democratic officials of the foreign affairs committee of the US Senate and Intelligence Committee of the US House of Representatives. The leaders of the US Congress of the two parties affirmed support of the historic relations between Saudi Arabia and the US. The Crown Prince discussed a number of important issues with regard to the latest developments in the region, including cooperation efforts in combatting terrorism and addressing Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.
