The Arab Coalition spokesman, Turki al-Maliki, said Saturday that Saudi air defense forces have intercepted a missile fired by Houthi insurgents from Yemen at the southern Saudi city of Najran. According to preliminary information, an Indian resident was lightly wounded by falling debris after the missile was intercepted, Maliki said in a statement on the official Saudi Press Agency. He accused Iran of arming the Houthis “in clear and explicit violation” of UN Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231. Maliki also said that Tehran is seeking to destabilize Saudi Arabia and threaten the security of the region and the world. Firing ballistic missiles on cities and residential areas is contrary to international humanitarian law, he said. The actions of Houthi militias are a dangerous escalation in the war of terrorist organizations and state sponsors of terrorism such as the Iranian regime, Maliki added. The coalition on Thursday said it intercepted another missile fired by the Houthis at the southern city of Jazan.
