In the first response to the targeting of a Saudi Arabian oil tanker in the Red Sea on Sunday, warplanes of the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy destroyed several factories that manufacture booby-trapped boats and coastal defense missiles hidden by Iranian Houthi militias in the coastal province of Hudaidah. When asked by Asharq Al-Awsat, Spokesman of the Coalition Colonel Turki Al-Malki said that the coalition is taking measures in accordance with international and humanitarian law and has a big role in imposing security and stability to neutralize the danger in targeting oil tankers in Strait of Bab el-Mandeb. Maliki revealed that coalition forces targeted factories in Hudaidah being used by the terrorist militia to manufacture booby-trapped boats that threaten the movement of maritime navigation in the Red Sea. He pointed out that Houthis turned Hudaidah port into a weapons store. Maliki also indicated that the threat of the Iranian-backed Houthi militias to the maritime navigation and international trade in Bab el-Mandeb and the Red Sea is a threat, not only to Saudi Arabia, but also to the most important international strait and shipping route. The spokesman reiterated the Coalition’s commitment to enforcing stability and security in this vital region, on behalf of the international community. "We believe in the security and safety of all ships in Bab el-Mandeb and the Red Sea. Yesterday it was a Saudi tanker and tomorrow it will be any other tanker,” said Maliki. Colonel Maliki relayed the threats of the head of the so-called Supreme Revolutionary Committee in targeting tankers in the Strait and the Red Sea, indicating that this is against international law and freedom of navigation at one of the most vital straits in the world. "There is no doubt that taking the war to a strategic level is a dangerous escalation, and there is no intention to reciprocate. We have the ability to impose security in the entire Gulf region," asserted the spokesman. Maliki also indicated that Houthi militias failed to target one of the coalition’s aircraft with an air-to-air missile after upgrading it into surface-to-air missile with Iranian technologies. In addition, Houthi militia launched a missile toward Jizan province on Wednesday, and Saudi Arabian air defense units shot down the missile in the skies above the province. The spokesman said that the Yemeni legitimate forces, backed by the Coalition, carried out offensive operations on several axes in Saada, al-Jawf, Sanaa, al-Bayda and Taiz. He pointed out that the militias suffered heavy losses and lost control over several areas, namely the entire al-Sharijah area to the southeast of Taiz. On the latest statistics of the number of missiles and projectiles launched by the militia to Saudi Arabia, Malki said that so far 107 missiles have been launched and more than 66,000 projectiles, pointing out that the air defense system responded to all of them. As for comprehensive humanitarian operation launched by Saudi Arabia, Spokesman Maliki said that the most important results were the deposit of two billion dollars in Yemen’s Central Bank, providing treatment for 400 Yemeni citizens in private hospitals, and the rehabilitation project of child soldiers. In addition, humanitarian aid included the treatment and prevention of cholera, and delivery of dozens of gasoline tanks carrying about 900 thousand liters to Yemeni hospitals in areas under the legitimacy control and areas controlled by the militias.
