RIYADH — The Coalition Naval forces have intercepted and destroyed two remote-controlled booby-trapped boats fired by the Houthi militia from Hodeidah, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting a statement of Col. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman of the Coalition forces to restore legitimacy in Yemen. “The Coalition Naval forces detected on Tuesday morning an attempt by the terrorist Iran-backed Houthi militia to carry out an imminent hostile terrorist attack in Southern Red Sea region, by using two booby-trapped boats launched from the Hodeida governorate. The boats, representing a threat to regional and international security as well as to sea lines of communications and international trade in Southern Red Sea and Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, were intercepted and destroyed,” he said. Al-Maliki noted that Houthi militia is using Hodeida governorate as a launch pad for ballistic missile, UAV, and remote controlled booby-trapped boats as well as for indiscriminate deployment of naval mines in a blatant violation of the International Humanitarian Law and provisions of the Stockholm Agreement as well as the Hodeida Ceasefire Agreement. He said that the number of detected and destroyed remote-controlled booby-trapped boats and naval mines has reached 46 and 153 respectively.
