The air defense of the Arab coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen intercepted on Monday two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthi militias in Yemen against Saudi Arabia. The rockets were targeting the southwestern region of Jizan. Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said that the missiles were detected at 4:23 pm on Monday. They were headed to the city of Jizan and deliberately targeting residential and populated areas, he added. The air defense downed the missiles with shrapnel landed on some residential areas. No one was injured and no damage was reported from the incident, Malki stressed. This hostile act by the Iran-backed Houthi militias proves Tehran’s ongoing armament of the group in a clear and blatant defiance of United Nations Security Council resolution 2216 and 2231, he continued. He deemed such attacks a threat to the security of Saudi Arabia, the region and the world, he stated. Missiles fired at residential regions is a violation of International Humanitarian Law, he declared.
