A Hezbollah cadre was killed in a mysterious explosion inside his home in the southern Lebanese town of Saida. The party quickly cordoned off the area, preventing anyone from approaching it, and later found that the man had died as a result of the explosion of a rocket-propelled grenade. According to the available information, Bilal Ahmed Hassan, 33, was killed in an explosion at 10 am on Tuesday inside his home in the Haret Saida area. What further obscured the mystery behind the incident is that Hezbollah concealed the nature of the explosion, describing it as accidental, and that the man was killed by “a shell he was carrying or examining.” The National News Agency (NNA) said that the military expert, who examined the site, reported that the blast was due to the explosion of a rocket-propelled grenade. It added that Hassan would be laid to rest at Haret Saidas cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. Initial reports of the circumstances and reasons of the explosion were contradictory. The preliminary information indicated that the explosion was caused by electrical friction, then it was said that a gas bottle had exploded, but the effects of the explosion clearly indicated that it was a bomb or a shell, and the shrapnel hit the walls and roof of the house. Party officials surveyed the area and the scene of the explosion. Later, the Lebanese security forces began investigations to find out the circumstances of the security incident.
