CAIRO: Prominent Egyptian talk-show host Amr Adib is quitting television after a long, successful career that spanned more than 20 years. Adib announced during his daily late-night show “Kol Youm” that May 15 will be his last day on private channel OnEnt. The 54-year-old host ensured his viewers that he is resigning on his own terms and that his live show days are over. No clear future plans were announced. Adib said he feels “Egypt is now in a good place,” and that his job is now done, adding that he is grateful to all the people he has met and privileged to have covered a wide array of topics during his career. He started his journalism career as editor-in-chief of “Al-Alam Al-Youm” newspaper. He rose to fame when he hosted “Al-Qahera Al-Youm” on Orbit network for two decades, during which he was popular for his folksy style and take on controversial issues.
