Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has warned that the US will face "historic regret" if President Donald Trump scraps the nuclear agreement with Tehran. In a speech on Sunday in Sabzevar, Rouhani asserted that Tehran is ready for any US withdrawal from the deal and that Iran rejects any new deal on the weapons and the Iranian missile program, affirming that there will be no negotiations about Irans defense programs with any party. He doubted the capability of the US to commit any action against Iran, saying: “This time, once again, it is also making a mistake. And if it wants to leave the nuclear deal, it will quickly see that this decision will be a regret of historic proportions.” Rouhani continued: “You (US) should know that you cannot threaten this great nation because our people withstood eight years of defense (in the war with Iraq)." The Iranian president, who is facing huge pressure from the nuclear deal critics, sent a message to the Iranian interior and tried to persuade Iranians when he said that the Iranian administration prepared a program for any step that might be made by Trump. Iran is ready to potential scenarios after “necessary instructions” were given to Iranian executive bodies months ago, said Rouhani, noting that instructions were given to officials in the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. Rouhanis escalation comes amidst Iranian officials vigilance, one week after the duration granted by US President to European states participating in the nuclear deal to tackle gaps in the deal. In his speech, Rouhani hinted that the deal might continue without the US. In another context, Ali Akbar Velayati, the foreign policy adviser to Irans supreme leader Ali Khamenei, stated that Iran would resist any condition that results from the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
