Winners of 9th Makkah Award for Excellence honored in Jeddah

Ministry of Hajj and Umrah wins Award for Excellence in Hajj and Umrah Services for its e-track electronic system for domestic pilgrims. King Abdullah Economic City won the award for Economic Excellence for contributing to providing a modern, international and socially progressive city. JEDDAH: The recipients of the 9th Makkah Award for Excellence were honored by the region’s governor, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, during a ceremony on Wednesday at the Hilton Hotel. Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majid and a number of high-level officials also attended. “This is an astronomical evening, so my words will be astrological,” said Prince Khaled in his opening speech. “Your highnesses, your excellencies, brothers and sisters, there is no distinctiveness without innovation, no innovation without creativity, and no creativity without culture and education. I congratulate the winners and thank the attendees for their presence.” He presented the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah with the Excellence in Hajj and Umrah Services award for its e-track electronic system for the domestic pilgrims, and the media-awareness campaign “Hajj is Worship and Civilized Behavior,” which over the past few years has raised awareness among pilgrims and those who serve them about the importance of adhering to the laws and regulations of Hajj. The award for Excellence in Management went to the Jeddah security patrols, while the Urbanism award was given to the Ministry of Finance’s construction department in Makkah. The award for Social Excellence was shared by the Hadiyah Charity Association, for providing visitors to Makkah and Madinah with excellent services, and the Ministry of Interior’s 911 Unified Security Operations Center, for its rapid response and for contributing to raising security awareness, participating in various awareness campaigns, and supporting humanitarian services. King Abdullah Economic City won the award for Economic Excellence for contributing to providing a modern, international and socially progressive city. The Scientific and Technical award was shared by Makkah’s official Twitter account and the young Sami Al-Shaibani for his “Snap Security” initiative. The Award for Humanitarian Excellence went to both the National Committee for Welfare of Prisoners, Ex-Inmates and their Families in the capital and in Jeddah Province.
