Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, honored winners of the 13rd edition of the Makkah Excellence Award here on Wednesday. The awards were announced last month during the 6th session of the Makkah Cultural Forum, held with the theme of “How to be a role model in the digital world.” The emir also gave away the Makkah Days Challenge Award for Programming and Artificial Intelligence. The Saudi Red Crescent Authority and artist Fayez Al-Maliki shared the humanitarian excellence award. Al-Maliki, a Saudi artist known for his humanitarian work, was the only individual winner across all nine categories of the award. The Red Sea International Film Festival bagged the cultural excellence award, while the economic excellence award was shared by Umm Al-Qura Development Company and Petro Rabigh Company. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was honored with the scientific and technical excellence award. King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah, bagged the environmental excellence award, and the Jeddah Dome Project was presented with the urban excellence award. The Ministry of Sports was given away with the administrative excellence award while the Special Forces for Hajj and Umrah Security was presented with the award for excellence in Hajj and Umrah services. Ehsan charity platform was presented with the social excellence award. The award distribution ceremony also witnessed the announcement of the winners of the Makkah Days Challenge Award for Programming and Artificial Intelligence. The Makkah Programming and Artificial Intelligence Days event was held as part of the cultural forum in February. The winners included the University of Jeddah in the field of Hajj and Umrah for its air ambulance initiative; Taif University in the field of smart cities for the “Mostahil” initiative; and Umm Al-Qura University in the field of tourism and entertainment for its “Athar” initiative.
