A human rights organization has accused Egyptian authorities of arresting blogger and journalist Wael Abbas on Wednesday. While the authorities did not make any official statement about the arrest and its causes, the Arab Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI) said that police raided Abbass home at dawn, without presenting an arrest warrant, and took him in to an unknown location. Last week, Egypts state security prosecutor ordered Haitham Mohamedeen, a leftist lawyer, to be arrested and investigated for a terrorist organization and incitement for protests. The state security prosecutor also ordered Shady Ghazaly Harb, a leading activist, to be detained for 15 days on charges of circulating false news on Facebook and Twitter. On Tuesday a military court sentenced researcher Ismail al-Iskandarani to 10 years in prison on charges of publishing false news related to national security in the Sinai Peninsula.
