Following the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) sent an aid ship, which arrived on Monday in Port Sudan, carrying 458 tons of food, shelter and medical aid. The delivery process to Sudan Port was overseen by a team from KSRelief, and the ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor of the Red Sea State Major General Mustafa Ahmed Noor, Chargé dAffaires of the Embassy of the Saudi Embassy in Khartoum Fahd al-Mansouri, Minister of Social Affairs in the Red Sea State Dr. Fatima Mustafa and Finance Minister Ali Abdullatif. KSRelief will be responsible for distributing food baskets in two provinces of the Red Sea region of Sudan as well as North Kordofan province, said KSRelief official spokesman Samel al-Jatili. He added that some areas in Sudan have been exposed to fires that resulted in the evacuation of the population from their homes, which are usually made of flammable materials, and therefore the center provided large accommodation materials and tents. “This was not the first time that the KSRelief arrives in Sudan. The last few days have witnessed the distribution of food aid in large and vast areas on the Red Sea coast of Sudan,” Jatili further noted. Coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, KSRelief implemented a fasting breakfasting project in areas in Sudan and targeted about 87 thousand beneficiaries in the outskirts of the state of Khartoum, South Kordofan and South and North Darfur, he added. And in accordance with the mechanisms adopted by KSRelief for the implementation of such humanitarian initiatives, it also started delivering medical supplies to more than 40 health centers, in the hope that more than 50,000 Sudanese nationals will benefit from the Saudi aid shipment. For his part, Assistant Director of Emergency Relief Department at KSRelief Nasser al-Subaie said in statements that Saudi Arabia has been providing humanitarian and food aid to all countries of the world. He added that the aid shipment to Sudan, which arrived Monday, reached 458 tons, including food, tents and medical equipment. “We wish the Sudanese-Saudi relations more progress and prosperity," Subaie said.
