The Yemeni government received about 300 tons of medical aid from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) as part of the centers comprehensive plan for 2018. The legitimate government confirmed that all the medical aid supplies are being delivered easily and safely to several Yemeni governorates, except in areas that fall under the control of Houthi militias. The governments confirmation came after UN Humanitarian and Resident Coordinator for Yemen Lise Grande left Sanaa after holding brief meetings with the Houthis and humanitarian organizations in an attempt to coordinate with the Yemeni parties to ensure the success of her UN mission, which was launched this week. Meanwhile, health authorities in Aden confirmed that the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF’s campaign, in cooperation with the World Bank, to vaccinate more than four million children against diphtheria in 20 Yemeni governorates achieved a major success in the first four days. Yemeni Minister of Local Administration and Chairman of the Higher Relief Committee Abdel Raqib Fatah stressed that aid deliveries to all Yemeni areas would have been possible had it not been for the Houthi militias that do not respect international law and international and national legitimacy. In official statements, Fatah called on the international community to stand against the militias and pressure them to cease all forms of meddling in relief work. He noted the presence of 17 land, air and sea ports for the arrival of relief aid, in addition to the port of Jizan. He also pointed to the commitment of the Saudi-led coalition member-states to expand the capacity of the ports of Hodeidah, Aden, Mokha and Mukalla to allow them to receive various vessels and facilitate the unloading of aid with high efficiency. The minister called on the international community to coordinate efforts to provide more humanitarian aid to Yemen and support development projects, which will bolster stability in line with the governments vision for the transition to the second phase of relief, which includes these projects.
