New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern gave birth to a baby girl in the country’s largest public hospital in Auckland Thursday, becoming only the second world leader to do so while in office. "Im sure were going through all of the emotions new parents go through, but at the same time feeling so grateful for all the kindness and best wishes from so many people. Thank you," the 37-year-old said in a statement. She added that both mother and daughter were doing well. Ardern was sworn in last October. The charismatic leader enjoyed a rapid rise to the top ranks of politics, winning office just months after taking the helm of the center-left Labor Party. "We thought 2017 was a big year!" she tweeted in January when announcing her pregnancy. "This year well join the many parents who wear two hats. Ill be PM and a mum while Clarke will be first man of fishing and stay at home dad."
