Saudi Arabia Stresses its Keenness to Achieve Stability in Oil Markets

The Saudi cabinet stressed on Tuesday that one of the main goals of the Kingdom’s petroleum policy is to always achieve balance and stability in the markets in coordination with producer and major consumer countries. Chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the cabinet stressed the importance of providing supply when needed to achieve joint interests and promote global economic growth. It hailed in this regard the constructive cooperation between OPEC and non-OPEC members. The ministers therefore stressed the Kingdom’s readiness to employ its reserve energy when needed to confront any future changes in supply and demand on petroleum. Also, during the cabinet meeting in Jeddah, King Salman praised the efforts all concerned civil and public sectors in ensuring the success of this year’s Umrah rituals. He then briefed the ministers on the details of the telephone call he held with US President Donald Trump over the weekend during which they focused on the stability of the oil markets and development of the global economy. Following the meeting, acting Information Minister Dr. Issam bin Saad bin Saeed said that the ministers expressed their gratitude to King Salman over his keenness on the situation in the Arab world. In this regard, he hailed the meeting that was held last month in the holy city of Makkah to tackle the economic crisis in Jordan. The meeting brought together King Salman, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah and United Arab Emirates Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed al-Maktoum, who all pledged an aid package of 2.5 billion dollars to help Jordan overcome its crisis. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, also briefed the cabinet on the details of his June visit to Russia where he held talks with President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders underlined bilateral ties and their intention to bolster them in all fields. In addition, the cabinet praised the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s launch of the MASAM landmine clearance project in Yemen., saying the initiative was a reflection of the Kingdom’s long history of humanitarian work.
