JEDDAH: A decree allowing a set of conjoined twins from Tanzania to undergo separation surgery in Saudi Arabia has been issued as part of humanitarian efforts being undertaken by the Kingdom. The Saudi Embassy in Tanzania received directives stipulating that the Tanzanian twins would be allowed to travel for treatment at the Kingdom’s expense, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. A delegation from the embassy has visited the twins at the Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. They were received by the hospital’s director, Dr. Lawrence Museru, as well as the twins’ mother. The delegation received the necessary medical reports while arranging their travel within the coming days to undergo the complicated surgery. The Tanzanian government has welcomed the Saudi Arabian gesture, praising the Kingdom’s pioneering humanitarian role.
