Our menu is growing and we are coming up with more items Saudi Arabia is reportedly the largest chocolate market in the Middle East in terms of consumption with a share of 52 percent compared to the remaining Arab countries. It is difficult to say why Saudis have a sweet tooth? But their love for chocolates, pastries and desserts has given a boost to the confectionery business across the Kingdom. Fatafeet Bakehouse is one such startup dedicated to providing delicious pastries and desserts. It was established in February 2017 and operates online. It delivers orders to a customer’s doorstep. The modern online bakery offers cookies, cakes, desserts and various types of pastries. It receives an average of 16 orders every week. Cereal Milk Cake and the Heavenly Chocolate Cake are considered Fatafeet Bakehouse’s specialties. It is run by Saudi pastry chef Khalida Al-Sulaiman and her husband Abdulrazzak Taylor. Al-Sulaiman told Arab News that the vision behind Fatafeet Bakehouse was providing fresh and delicious treats and ensuring an exceptional customer service. “What sets us apart from other bakeries, is our online platform, unique goodies, and our delivery service,” she said. Al-Sulaiman completed her pastry and baking program from Le Cordon Bleu in Cambridge, Massachusetts. “I have always been interested in this field. In 2011, I completed The Pâtisserie and Baking Program at Le Cordon Bleu. While I was attending the culinary school, I was fortunate to work at The Four Seasons as their pastry intern. After that, I worked for Paul Maison De Qualite for almost three years, here in Jeddah. Then I worked for a high-end restaurant in California.” Al-Sulaiman said. According to the pastry chef, her husband motivated her to establish this bakery. Taylor and Al-Sulaiman worked together to develop the website for their business. “My husband is my inspiration. Abdulrazzak and I met a few years ago. Our story started when he tried my Heavenly Chocolate Cake. He loved it so much and persuaded me to begin working on our own. We built the website and the whole concept together. We only had the chocolate cake and cookies on our menu when we first started. Today, our menu is growing and we are coming up with more items,” said Al-Sulaiman. Fatafeet Bakehouse can be found on Instagram @fatafeetbakehouse.
