Saudi Arabia has fulfilled all of its obligations towards international human rights conventions, announced the official spokesman of the Saudi Human Rights Commission Mohammed Al-Muadi on Thursday. It has therefore joined 36 out of 197 countries that have completed the required rights procedures, he said according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The fulfillment of this mission reflects the Kingdom’s effective and realistic translation of its support for human rights, led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. Al-Muadi added that the Kingdom had submitted periodic reports aimed at assessing progress in the process of implementing the provisions of rights conventions. Moreover, the Saudi Human Rights Commission had responded to questions raised by treaty bodies and participated in interactive dialogues with United Nations experts. These efforts underscore the Commission’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to build national human rights capacities, he continued. In this regard, the Saudi commission had organized several workshops and seminars that saw the participation of judges, prosecutors and law enforcement officials, he revealed. Al-Muadi stressed that Saudi Arabias commitment to cooperate with regional and international institutions in human rights stems from its adherence to Islamic Sharia, which calls for respecting and protecting these rights.
