ago Arab News August 07, 2018 22:06 52 JEDDAH: Dr. Abdullah bin Suleiman Al-Fahad serves as the vice president of the Saudi Scout Association, and was one of 12 elected volunteer members of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Dr. Al-Fahad also serves as a full professor at the Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, and as the vice president for Community Service and Continuous Education. Earlier this year, the board of directors of the World Scout Fund, chaired by the honorary president King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden, has nominated Al-Fahad as a member of the joint executive committee, which is responsible for taking major decisions on financing the projects of the Messengers of Peace (MoP) program. Al-Fahad considered this candidacy as an extension of Saudis’ access to leading positions in different fields at the Arab and international levels. Al-Fahad was born on Oct. 16, 1966, in Riyadh. He is one of the Arab and international scout figures who has received many medals and awards, including the Gold Scout medal for the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Malaysian Scouts medal, the silver medal of The International Union of Muslim Scouts, the Arab Scouts medal, and the medal of Gulf Coordinating Committee for Scouts and Girl Guides. He has also provided his services at Hajj camps for more than 25 years. He became general supervisor of the camps in Makkah, Madinah, the holy places, and the ports. Al-Fahad served as vice president of the assembly of scouting of the Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association, and as chairman of the Arab Scout Committee. In 2011, was elected to the World Scout Committee during an event.
