Saudi air forces intercepted on Saturday a ballistic missile fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen towards the Kingdom’s Jizan region, reported al-Arabiya Channel. This was the fourth rocket launched in three days, as a ballistic missile targeted populated areas in Saudi Arabia every day since Thursday, killing a civilian of Yemeni nationality and injuring 11 others. Saudi-led Arab coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that a missile was fired from Yemen’s Amran region on Saturday evening and detected by the air defenses. The air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed the missile. No one was injured in the incident, said Maliki. “This hostile act, carried out by the terrorist Iranian Houthi militia, proves that the Iranian regime is still providing them with advanced capabilities, in flagrant defiance of United Nations Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231, with the main objective of threatening Saudi, regional and international security,” Maliki stated. Meanwhile, Medical and security sources in Marib said that the Houthi group shelled residential neighborhoods west of the city, as part of its retaliatory actions to compensate for field losses. Sources told Asharq al-Awsat that a number of Houthi missiles fell Saturday on the neighborhoods of Marib, east of the airport, killing two children and wounding two others, amid widespread condemnation and popular and official outrage. The group, based in Haylan mountains in Sarwah district west of Marib, launched rockets and missiles at the city, but the air defenses of the coalition supporting legitimacy intercepted the ballistic missiles, according to the residents. Several eyewitnesses said Saturday that Houthis launched an attack on the liberated village of Manzar, southwest Hodeidah, which led to the destruction of houses and the injury of civilians, just two days after targeting a bakery in the village which led to killing three people and wounding three others. Over the past three days, Houthis lost dozens of their members along with three of their senior leaders south of Hodeidah following clashes in al-Durahmi and the coalition’s bombardment in the area. In Saada, the media center of the Yemeni armed forces quoted the commander of the special forces brigade, Colonel Ahmed al-Musaabi, as saying that the forces "launched an attack in which they managed to liberate the village of al-Mashabih and the surrounding mountains.” Musaabi explained that following heavy clashes, the army liberated these sites, thus cuttnig the supply line of Houthi militias coming from Dwayeb mountain, which extended from the Maran mountain range to the village of al-Mashabih and al-Kharjai mountains. Colonel Musaabi said that the coalition airforce participated in several raids, killing and injuring several Houthi militants. Several Houthi militia elements were killed and injured Friday during clashes with National Army forces in al-Buqa district, north of Saada province. Commander in Saada Military Axis brigadier Salah Salem told September.Net that the army forces foiled an attempt by the militia to plant landmines at the international road between Buqa and Yatamah districts, killing and wounding a number of them, while forcing others to retreat towards “Adiaq” mountains. The Brigadier praised the role of the Saudi-led Arab coalition in supporting army forces in different battlefield fronts. Meanwhile, Yemeni military sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that government forces on Nahm front are preparing to launch large-scale operations in the coming days to complete the liberation of the directorate and progress towards the outskirts of Sanaa. The sources, who preferred not to be named because they were not authorized to speak to the media, said that the Chief of General Staff of the Yemeni Army, Major General Taher al-Aqili, oversaw the development of a plan of operations to be led by the recently-appointed commander of 7th military zone, Major General Mohsen al-Khubi. Aqili recently visited Nahm front and asserted the need to liberate the whole country from Houthi control.
