The Saudi-led Arab coalition stressed on Monday that it had taken last week all the necessary measures to ensure the continued global marine and trade navigation in the southern Red Sea and Mandeb Strait, reported the Saudi Press Agency. The measures were taken in coordination with the alliance partners, said coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki at a press conference for the joint command forces in Yemen’s Marib city. He warned that the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen pose a threat to international trade, accusing them of targeting ships in the Red Sea and Mandeb Strait. Maliki stressed that the joint forces command will continue to combat terrorist groups in Yemen, accusing the Houthis of continuing to fire ballistic missiles against civilians in violation of international and humanitarian laws. On the ground, the coalition carried several operations in Hadhramaut, liberating al-Mukalla and handing over its control to the legitimate Yemeni government. Maliki added that seven children recruited by the Houthis were returned to their families, bringing the total of rescued children to 86. Moreover, he said that the tribal leaders and elders in the Hajjah province had held a meeting to declare their support to the Arab coalition and legitimate government. On the humanitarian level, he stressed that the Saudi leadership, headed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, has donated $60 million a month to ease the suffering of the Yemeni people.
