JEDDAH: Saudi and Emirati contributions have enabled the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) to help 66,000 families affected by the hurricane that hit Yemen’s Socotra Island in May, said the WFP’s Deputy Director Ali Reza Qureshi. He praised Saudi Arabia and the UAE for their continued cooperation in providing humanitarian support to people throughout Yemen. The WFP on Thursday launched its Food Basket Distribution Project for Yemen, in partnership with Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The launch, in Aden, took place in the presence of the UAE’s director of humanitarian operations in Yemen, Saeed Al-Kaabi.
