RIYADH — Executive Director of the United Nations Children"s Fund (UNICEF) Henrietta Fore has lauded Saudi Arabia’s generous support for the United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen 2020. In a letter sent the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), the UNICEF chief, expressed her thanks and appreciation for the Kingdom represented by KSRelief for providing $46 million support for seven diverse projects in Yemen, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday. “The support will help the UNICEF to provide support to the children and their families, in the fields of health, nutrition, water and sanitation, education and protection, as well as to combat coronavirus in Yemen, by training health personnel and providing medical and other supplies,” she added in her letter. Last month, KSRelief signed a joint agreement with UNICEF to support access for Yemeni children affected by the coronavirus pandemic to educational opportunities through remote learning. The agreement is in implantation of the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, to stand with the brotherly Yemeni people and relieve their suffering compounded by the pandemic.
