Ahmed Al-Fahaid has been the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) governor since late 2015. He said that the institute is proud to have contributed 73,000 working hours during the Hajj season this year. Al-Fahaid told a ceremony for employees at the corporation’s headquarters in Riyadh that the foundation’s qualified elites had performed dutifully during the Hajj season. The foundation’s initiatives included an emergency maintenance program for cars on the roads to the holy sites.  TVTC’s employees produced and designed maps and guides in service camps, Mina and Arafat, and the central area of the Grand Mosque.  Al-Fahaid received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from King Saud University in 1992. He obtained his master’s in the same field from the University of Western Michigan, and his doctorate from Old Dominion University in Virginia in 2000. He began his career as a teacher’s assistant from 2001 to 2006, before becoming an assistant professor afterwards.  He served as director-general of the General Directorate of International Cooperation, General Corporation for Technical and Vocational Training, from 2003 to 2009. Al-Fahaid was vice president of the Knowledge International University from its inception in 2007 to 2009, after which he became director-general of the General Administration of Projects and Maintenance.  He has been undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor for international labor affairs since 2012. He led Saudi Arabia’s technical delegation to the International Labor Organization meetings from 2013 to 2015. He also led the Saudi delegation to G-20 meetings in Russia, Australia and Turkey, and signed over 20 agreements and memorandums of understanding.
